We Are Farming Minds is a registered charity established in 2020 following the efforts of Herefordshire Duchy Tenants Emily & Sam, who recognised a need for greater support within the local farming community. WAFM exists to ensure that no one in farming feels they have to struggle alone.
The charity supports people in a variety of ways, including a 24/7 confidential support line, available by both call and text. Where appropriate, individuals can also access fully funded counselling, with a suitable counsellor sourced and support beginning within seven days, often sooner.
Alongside one-to-one support, WAFM runs a range of free monthly social events aimed at tackling isolation often found in the farming community, including Men in Agriculture during the winter months, Women Within Farming, One Foot in the Grain for retired farmers, as well as family-focused events.
WAFM also delivers Mental Health Awareness Workshops, open to anyone within the farming community or those who work closely with farmers. These workshops are delivered in partnership with Herefordshire Mind and equip attendees with the skills to recognise signs of poor mental health and respond appropriately.
